eBay Sales Better After a Little Slump, Phew!
Posted by dropshipebayer on February 6, 2008
I have not written here in a while and it was not for a good reason. My eBay sales started to slump. Granted it was only for a few days but I must admit I did panic. I even got paranoid and wondered if it didn’t have something to do with that mentoring telemarketing call I got at the end of Jan.
As it turns out, I just happened to run into some unwanted products mixed with what I think was a slow week on eBay. Maybe it was all the Superbowl hype keeping people off of eBay? I do not know, but I do know I was scared.
For the first time since I bought the Better Sources guide from DropShippingSucks.com (if you buy this guide please use my affiliate link) I had a bunch of auctions close without a sale. I was selling some body lotion I thought would be good for Valentine’s Day but it seems nobody wanted lotion or maybe it is just that eBay was oversaturated with it.
At least I will smell good and have soft skin for a few weeks now!
But starting on Monday everything started getting bids on eBay again and selling on my buy-it-now auctions. So all is peaceful and happy in eBay Seller Land.
Recently I have been considering posting my eBay ID on this blog, maybe in the about me page. But I am a little worried as Chris advised against it and so did my friend John who has also started selling on eBay lately. The concern is that people will then simply look at my auctions and sell exactly what I am selling using my listing headers and auction descriptions and everything.
I am slightly concerned that it might happen, especially since I am very vocal about where I get the products. Not exactly where, but everyone who reads my blog knows I use the recommendations from Better Sources. So, they could potentially steal my eBay listings to compete with me. But will people really do this? I am not making millions or anything so will anyone really care? Is there really a danger?
I AM ASKING FOR YOUR EXPERIENCES? IF I POST MY EBAY USER ID WILL IT HURT ME IN SOME WAY? MIGHT SOMEONE REALLY STEAL MY AUCTION LISTINGS TO COMPETE WITH ME?
Please post your comments. And “The Man Man” if you read my blog still, sorry I deleted your comment by accident. I love getting comments and I don’t want you to think it was something personal.
That’s all for today. Wish me luck in my quest for total eBay domination. Ok, maybe not total eBay domination but I do want to eventually quit my job and become a full time eBay junkie!

I wouldnt. Chris and ur other friends are right. All you would need would be for a few people to copy your idea and then you have ‘Market Value Destruction’ as Chris put it on his site.

Thanks for the advice. I am learning but I knew somehow that it wouldn’t be a good idea. Not only have others advised against it, it just didn’t seem like it would be of any benefit as I don’t see more bids coming as a result. Thanks for your comment Art.

dropshipebayer: I am new to all of this. I came upon your blog, because I am interested in blogging. I am on a very fixed income and desperatly need extra income to get me by from month to month. I had looked into having a website and trying “big Google Ads sense thing” w/this 17 year old teenager making millions on her website w/google ads and of course she has a large following of her peers! From there I have looked into Surveys (big joke) ,MLM’s and then what I believe is Dropshipping on Ebay” I answered an email and have been having calls all night every night about how much do I have on my credit cards and do I know what OPM is. Well yeah! Now I do because of all the calls I’ve been getting Other People’s Money. So I believe that is what that is called. I guess what I’m trying to get to in a round about way is if you would be willing to be my kind of like mentor, and give me some advice ?? I had heard there was money in blogging and what are you’re views about blogging?
I can see that what you are really doing is blogging and selling products, do the two go together ? I know I have been rambling on and you are probably scratching your head and saying what the heck does this woman want from me and what is she saying????
Print only the parts that make me look good. Okay? Joke. Help jessiejo

Well, with these public blogs it is not possible to make money. If you set up your own wordpress site I suppose it is but it might be very tough. My main advice to you is to take everything you read on a sales site with a grain of salt. I am sure there are 17 year-olds making millions online but that does not mean you can accomplish the same by joining their site or copying their plan. Do what feels right to you. That is what I did. If something doesn’t just sound good, like a ton of money, to you but actually sounds RIGHT then I think you will be headed in the right direction. I wish I could offer you more but I am still learning too.
