ProductSourcing.com is DOBA, but at least the free trial is no risk for eBayers!
Posted by dropshipebayer on October 9, 2008
I came across a new site on Tuesday and was pretty excited. Their website looked very professional and they were offering a free account. So, why not?
The site was www.ProductSourcing.com and they were offering access to thousands of drop shipped products.
I know, I know, I learned long ago never to use drop shipping. But this was a free account, so I thought it was worth at least some investigation. OOPS!
I got all signed up and started looking around. Something seemed very familiar. Was I in the twilight zone? No, I WAS AT DOBA! I wasn’t 100% sure, but if it was not DOBA then it was some copycat.
Then, I got the call. The same call I had months ago. The call telling me about the wonders of eBay and how eBay and drop shipping are a match made in heaven. Yes, that call. It was total deja-vu; and then it all came crashing to reality when the guy on the phone says “have you checked out DOBA? If not, you should. That is our main product and [blah, blah, blah] for only $599″.
$599? I do not remember DOBA being that much. But I must admit, I had stopped listening. Once I heard a pause I said “Don’t call again.” and hung up the phone.
I couldn’t believe it. DOBA had gotten me AGAIN!
So, the good news is if you are really curious about DOBA then you can go to ProductSourcing.com and try them out on a smaller scale for free. I just would not use your real phone number or you will be harassed.
Take a look around in there and when you are convinced you cannot make a profit, come back here and click my link to DropShipping Sucks. It is how you can profit on eBay. Be sure to click my link so I get credit.
Good luck!

I don’t know. Many people seem to like Doba, and many people don’t. I’m still thinking if i should go with Doba. My friend says their suppliers do not even update their inventories and Doba does not want to be held to be liable if their suppliers do not update inventories. So much for customer service. Other Doba reviews, on the other hand, point out some good stuff about Doba. It’s really confusing, still have to further investigate if i should go with Doba or not.

I have not run into people who like DOBA. Not anyone. But you have a nice review site. Thanks for sharing it with me. However, you recommend DOBA and give it four stars but it sounds like you have not yet made up your mind about DOBA?

Ok, so you hammer on dropship sites, ie. DOBA, and then you ask to click your link (so you get credit!?!?) and then try to sell a makeshift book that promises to be better (but apparently the exact same) as what dropshippers supply!?! way sketchy partner, you just solidify the fact that all of this is just crap and anyway to sign up with anyone for the intial “bait and switch” payment and then never have to deal with them again works….right?!?! You may want to apply with the government or better yet, citibank, as they both need more honest people like yourself:)

Where are you getting your facts? What makes you think I am dishonest? What is a makeshift book? I think you are a bit too cynical my friend.

Gotta say…I have no clue if you’ve actually read this blog or not after a statement like that! I’ve beeen searching for a very long time now (since 2000) for a drop shipper that had products people actually wanted to buy for prices that would be considered reasonable and until I found this blog, that seemed to be a fantasy. I also tried DOBA several years ago and they were easily the biggest waste of my time ever. When I read this blog I probably had the same cynical reaction to it but then I looked a around a bit and found there was not much out there to indicate there was anything sketchy about this. I went ahead and ordered the book (Yes I used your link
, and it was exactly as advertised. It was direct, simple to use and full of absolutely brilliant information I could have kicked myself for not thinking of on my own. As to our friend the blogger here, I think you just did him a disservice due to your own mis-givings. This guy is doing us all a huge favor by documenting his progress so far and I can’t thank him enough for it!

I know this is an old post, but I have to agree, Doba sucks. Matter of fact, that is the search term that I used on Google and it brought me to this site. I signed up for the free trial yesterday. This morning on the way to work I get a call from Doba… Huh, why would they be calling me? Then they called back a couple of hours later. I spoke with the guy and explained that I already sell items on my website. That I have a Chinese supplier but I’m looking to expand and the shipping times from China and the hold up in customs pretty much suck. I also tell him that I’m looking to expand into clothing also, but this would be handled by my step daughter since the most exotic place I’ve ever bought clothes was at Kohls.
I also mention that I’m really into electronics but the prices that they have can’t come close to what is being sold on Ebay. Even the accessories can’t match the price. And the same can be said about some of the other things. I go on to explain that I spent about 2 hours trying to find something that I could make a profit on vs Ebay prices and that maybe, just maybe I could list the items up on my website and hope that customer loyalty / laziness would kick in and I would get a sale. But then how do I sleep at night knowing that I’m ripping off the customers that have been providing me with extra income over the past few months. OK, so I didn’t say the last part, but it’s how I feel.
I tell the guy that my step daughter will need to look over the clothing and we will need to compare prices. He also went into his sales pitch sometime during the conversation. About how they have an advanced program and what the normal price is vs what they will sell it to me for today and blah blah blah. I tell him that I *would* like to go through the trial period and see if there’s anything I can do with the prices that they have. And that I’m sure that he would want the $350 reduced yearly fee as soon as I said yes. Which he answered that they would. I will give them a shot. But even after looking over what they have I can’t say that it will work out. Matter of fact, I’m sure it won’t. I’ve looked at a couple of other drop shippers and the story seems to be the same. While the prices that they have seem good if I was just looking to buy something for myself, they aren’t good enough to resell the items. Which is why I’m sure is the reason why Doba wants to get as much cash from you up front so it buys them some time to think up another scheme to lure you into another year of paying.

Why would anyone want to pay a company for the privilege of buying their products.

Ok, old post but just had to put in my 2cents worth here.
I have been selling on the internet using nothing but the dropshipping method since 2002.
Yes you can earn a living using dropshippers, merchants, and becoming a dealers for many products like baby furniture, health care products, and furniture to name just a few.
However one round with Doba taught me one of the best lessons I have ever learned about using dropshipping.
If you want to *pay* a fortune to someone to “sell their products” and then have more than half of what you have listed be sold out, then Doba is probably for you. Their fees just to join are *outrageous* and then you still pay more than you can at other sites for the products..
Personally, I did not like having 17 orders being sold out in a row when they had just been listed for about a week OR less.
Then the real lesson I learned, is Doba is more interested in wholesale than they are in dropshipping. I have yet to figure out how they can say the are dropshippers, unless it’s just for the left over products that don’t sell as wholesale.
I had purchase a bedding set, that was sold out 3 days after I listed the it on Ebay. Doba had just gotten it in and was showing several in stock or I WOULD NOT HAVE LISTED THE SET.
I emailed Doba to see when they expected to get this set back in. I was told they would come in any day. My customer decided to wait since this was the set that they really wanted. 2-3 weeks later the sets arrived.
I was checking the site several times a day to make sure I would not miss this set for my customer. I had just checked the stock and it did not show that it had been restocked just a little earlier.
I decided to look around to see if there was anything else of interest. I was probably on the site about 30 minutes when I decided to look one more time. There is was!!
I was so excited when I saw the set arrive. There were 6 sets. I purchased the set I needed and sent an email off to the customer. They were so happy that they were finaly going to get this bedding set for their new home. They had even painted the bedroom to match the bedding.
“FIVE” days later I get an email from Doba. The set was sold out.
Amazing since I knew I had to be one of the very first to order and they normally ship out within just a few days.
I had noticed in the past that many times when Doba restocked an item that it would show up on Overstock, when OS had been showing the item as being sold out. I then started checking OS and 4-5 days later there were all 6 sets.
Hmmmm. Wonder how they got all 6 sets when I knew very well that I had to be one of the very first to place an order.
All they had done is cancel my order and sold it all to OS days later.
Now that really stinks.
I canceled my subscription with them and had not been back since.
So if you are considering Doba, don’t mind paying their high subscripion fee, and you don’t mind have a lot of sold out, not in stock, and you don’t really care if your orders are not filled, but given a to a larger company, then Doba will probably work just fine for you.
That’s all I have to say about that!!
