Will eBay BAN Drop Shipping?

Posted by dropshipebayer on February 13, 2009

You know I am starting to wonder if eBay will soon put a ban on drop shipping.  It seems that now many buyers are having trouble with drop shipped goods not arriving or not arriving on time.

I am not a fan of drop shipping (buy Dropshipping Sucks through my link!) for my ebay sales, but I do not think eBay should ban it.  I think that all sellers who list an item with drop shipping as the source should have to list the “Item Location” as the actual location and there should be a little “DS” next to it to indicate that this item will be drop shipped.  Then, people know what they are getting into.

I’m researching Chris’s Dropshipping Sucks program and found your log. I agree there should at least be something that informs the buyer that the item is being supplied to the seller and that the seller does not actually have the item. I do list the item from its actual supplied location because I was under the impression that it was an Ebay rule. I’ve been selling on ebay for about a month. Got hooked with some of our stuff, then started looking how to find products etc…. Found some dropshippers but have noticed that by the time everyone gets their share your left with nothing if not less than nothing. As well, you have no control over inventory. Your constantly in limbo as to whether you would be able to meet your sale obligation. Anyway, people who are dropshipping are most likely like me, not a lot a money to invest upfront, willing to sacrafice profit just to get a sale and be involved. In the end, it errode’s almost all possibility of anyone being profitable, unless you find that unique item before the rest jump on board. I think I’m to the point that if you are going to do this online store stuff, you need to come up with a bit of cash and jump in the right way (haven’t truly decided what the is yet). It’s a risk, but I’m sure most successful individuals will tell you, their success came with lots of risks. Thanks
