Will My eBay Success Last Forever?

Posted by dropshipebayer on May 15, 2008

My eBay success has me terrified!  Why you might ask?  Because now after many months I am really nearing the point where quitting my real job looks like a possibility.

I have been using the methods from the Drop Shipping Sucks guy, Chris, for months now and it is to the point where I really have convinced myself that I am a pro.  But am I just fooling myself?

My eBay feedback just today hit the 600 mark.  The point when I told myself that if I was making over $400/wk I would consider quitting my job.  But, $400/wk is not enough really.  Right now I am used to $350 – $400/wk from eBay but also another $512/wk from my job.  If I stop working my job now I will lose $512 AND my benefits.

However, if I do not quit now I am not sure how much further I can take my eBay business.  I am trying to find as much time as I can but with a full time job it is tough.

So I am asking the advice of my readers, if any still exist.  From my experience now I am very confident I can double my eBay profits to $800/wk in under 2 weeks if I had full time to work on it.  I also feel pretty sure I can get that up to $1500+ per week if I go at it full time for a month or so and then beyond.

But I am very afraid to take this leap.  I could fail and end up with $512 less per week and no eBay business as I spend my time searching for new employment.

PLEASE HELP!

My friend has advised me to take my 2 week vacation from work and try to increase my eBay profits then and if it works then give my 30 days notice.  But I don’t have another vacation coming until 2009 so that is a way off and also, once I get the full time eBay started I don’t want to pull back for 30 days.

ARGH!  YOUR ADVICE IS APPRECIATED.

eBay Sales Better After a Little Slump, Phew!

Posted by dropshipebayer on February 6, 2008

I have not written here in a while and it was not for a good reason.  My eBay sales started to slump.  Granted it was only for a few days but I must admit I did panic.  I even got paranoid and wondered if it didn’t have something to do with that mentoring telemarketing call I got at the end of Jan.

As it turns out, I just happened to run into some unwanted products mixed with what I think was a slow week on eBay.  Maybe it was all the Superbowl hype keeping people off of eBay?  I do not know, but I do know I was scared.

For the first time since I bought the Better Sources guide from DropShippingSucks.com (if you buy this guide please use my affiliate link) I had a bunch of auctions close without a sale.  I was selling some body lotion I thought would be good for Valentine’s Day but it seems nobody wanted lotion or maybe it is just that eBay was oversaturated with it.

At least I will smell good and have soft skin for a few weeks now!

But starting on Monday everything started getting bids on eBay again and selling on my buy-it-now auctions.  So all is peaceful and happy in eBay Seller Land.

Recently I have been considering posting my eBay ID on this blog, maybe in the about me page.  But I am a little worried as Chris advised against it and so did my friend John who has also started selling on eBay lately.  The concern is that people will then simply look at my auctions and sell exactly what I am selling using my listing headers and auction descriptions and everything.

I am slightly concerned that it might happen, especially since I am very vocal about where I get the products.  Not exactly where, but everyone who reads my blog knows I use the recommendations from Better Sources.  So, they could potentially steal my eBay listings to compete with me.  But will people really do this?  I am not making millions or anything so will anyone really care?  Is there really a danger?

I AM ASKING FOR YOUR EXPERIENCES?  IF I POST MY EBAY USER ID WILL IT HURT ME IN SOME WAY?  MIGHT SOMEONE REALLY STEAL MY AUCTION LISTINGS TO COMPETE WITH ME?

Please post your comments.  And “The Man Man” if you read my blog still, sorry I deleted your comment by accident.  I love getting comments and I don’t want you to think it was something personal.

That’s all for today.  Wish me luck in my quest for total eBay domination.  Ok, maybe not total eBay domination but I do want to eventually quit my job and become a full time eBay junkie!

Day 6: Going Strong! Change the blog name?

Posted by dropshipebayer on December 11, 2007

On day six and what a turn around from my previous days!  All but one of my auctions have bids and if they closed at their current bids I would be profiting!!

But I think they will actually get more bids as many auctions get most of their bids in the final hours.  I will keep you posted.

I am going to write Chris today and ask him for any more product ideas and if I feel so inclined I might post them here.  It is hard not to be greedy and secretive when you find a product that sells.  You don’t want Tom, Dick, and Harry to start selling the same products and competing with you.

I still do have my Salehoo account although I do not use it.  I feel too badly to return it since it was ok, I just couldn’t find anything in the few hours I looked through there and through the wholesaler’s websites that would sell for a profit on eBay.

So, I may look back at it soon.  But right now I am much more interested in using my drop shipping sucks sources as they are what is working.  Yes, working!

Here is the picture of the day to express my feelings about drop shipping.  These really are not my pictures, they come from the DSS website but I think they are funny and TRUE so I am putting one here a day.  For now anyhow, there are only a few there so in a few days I will be without funny pictures.  Here it is.

John’s Business is Dead. He used drop shipping!

Quick Salehoo Update and Drop Shipping Sucks

Posted by dropshipebayer on December 7, 2007

Well, I do like Salehoo, there are some really nice people there.  I am not sure yet about the profit potential because after my bad experience with the products at DOBA I am not sure I am ready to take any leaps of faith.

I have also just ordered the Drop Shipping Sucks guide but it has not arrived yet although the site did say “instantly” so I am wondering if it is not some kind of a scam.  It has only been under 10 minutes so maybe I am just a little impatient.

So far, $166 invested in wholesale/dropship programs and eBay fees.  It is actually more, but I have made some back, well I should say lost less.  So my total loss so far is $166.  If I get to the $400 mark I am going to quit.

I hate setting a negative goal for myself but at this point it is necessary.  I don’t want to waste too much time as you can tell by the rapidness of these posts and my changing and finding new programs.  But I cannot afford to waste too much money either.

Check back shortly for my Drop Shipping Sucks review.
